On a family journey

I miss the childhood tales
the magical pumpkin of Cinderella
the tasty porridge of Goldilocks
how funny it looks now when I thought
the moon to wake all night watching me through window
sleeping warmly with my affectionate mother
whose heart understood and fulfilled my every need
I wish if dad could hold me
again on his shoulders
telling me the story of bears
if we all could unite again
and go on a family journey in a train
with it’s blowing horn
and the sound of it’s wheel on the rail
running over rivers, over the bridges
through the meadows
inside the tunnels

The ever awaited birthdays and the excitement of opening new gifts
the joy of new toys
the warm sweaters in those silent winter days
those evening playground and familiar faces
how important those cardboard games used to be
the joy of waking all night yet pretending to sleep
as mom came to wake up for morning prayers
watching TV together
dancing to Tina Charles and Roxette tunes
things could’ve been so great
only if we could understand
the value of precious moments
I wish if we all could unite again
and go on a family journey in train
with it’s blowing horn
and the sound of it’s wheel on the rail
running over rivers, over the bridges
through the meadows
inside the tunnels
