The river which flew here

I came running and burning from a desert
in search of some water to swallow down my throat
with my hands empty and bleeding feet
a war that has always ended in defeat
but as I reached here to this space
the peace’s place
I find the river which once flew here
has even changed it’s direction
the love that once existed here
is found nowhere

When I departed, I thought
upon my return, everything would be unchanged
but in this hot summer day’s thirst
when I need water I can’t get it, is it some curse?
finding no where the river which once flew here
it has changed it’s direction
leaving behind only it’s spots
the love that existed once here
has even changed it’s direction
leaving me thirsty to death
in this hot summer day
